Hotter Than Haiti 10k

The second annual Hotter Than Haiti 10K will be hosted by the Asheville Outdoor Center in West Asheville. Run along the beautiful French Broad Greenway and Hominy Creek. View the race route. After the race, the whole family can have fun at the Asheville Outdoor Center. There will be music and fun along the river!
This event supports Consider Haiti, a non-profit organization based in Asheville. For more than 10 years Consider Haiti has promoted the health and welfare of children in and around Montrouis, Haiti, by providing medical care, sustainable nutrition programs, community based health programs and clean water.
Race Proceeds: All proceeds from The Hotter than Haiti 10K will benefit Consider Haiti.
Registration Information
Registration is $25 ($30 after August 2) at ImAthlete or Race Day Registration starting at 7:00 AM August 10th at the Asheville Outdoor Center. Register by July 31st to guarantee a t-shirt.
Race packets and t-shirts can be picked up Friday night, August 9th, between 5:30 and 7:00 pm at the Asheville Outdoor Center or before the race beginning at 7:00 am.
Course Description
The course starts and ends at the Asheville Outdoor Center. After leaving the Outdoor Center, the course runs along the greenway and river toward Hominy Creek Road. The course then runs one mile (out and back) along the Hominy Creek trail which is mostly flat but can be wet and has some rocks. The course will loop back along Hominy Creek Road and the greenway past the Asheville Outdoor Center and makes a one mile loop along the trails of Carrier Park (around the race track) before finishing at the Outdoor Center.Click here for an interactive map of the race route.Timing will be provided by Right On Time Productions
Unregistered runners, running with dogs, rollerblades & bicycles are prohibited on the race course at any time to ensure runners’ safety and to comply with liability insurance standards.
Parking
There will be no parking available at the Asheville Outdoor Center. There will be parking available at the end of Hominy Creek Road or at Carrier Park. From the end of Hominy Creek Road, it is a one mile, 12-13 minute walk to the Asheville Outdoor Center along the greenway. It’s a great way to warm up and look for birds along the river. The center is located adjacent to Carrier Park where there is plenty of parking available and a short walk to the Asheville Outdoor Center.
